FAQs

Is Angel House a "not for profit" with 501c(3) status?

Angel House Rescue Orphanage is an extension of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation Rescue International. At the end of each calendar year, a detailed giving receipt is furnished to each donor for tax purposes.

How much of the money raised goes to rescuing children and how much goes to overhead?

At Angel House, we know that the children need and deserve as much help as we can give them. Because of this, we ensure that 100% of the money raised for projects is directed toward the project. The new home construction prices go toward the following:

  • Land acquisition
  • Materials and all labor
  • Home construction
  • Furnishing

Additional funds can be raised to provide a:

  • Fresh water well
  • School supplies
  • Shoes
  • Clothing
  • Mosquito nets
  • Playground equipment

To ensure the 100% model, we enlist the help of a group of individuals and businesses called "Guardian Angels" who provide recurring monthly donations, at any amount. These donations help to cover things like salaries, general overhead, and any excess financial needs we may run into. These donors fuel our continued vision of Angel House! If you would like to become a Guardian Angel, please visit our "Donate" page and follow the prompts to give!

How do you choose the House Parents?

The Angel House International staff chooses the house parents based on the following criteria:

  • Their credibility as an Indian citizen (background check)
  • Their experience (What they done to show they are capable to perform the job)
  • Their interviews (This process is long and tedious and consists of our Angel House International staff getting to know the couple for months, including several extensive interviews and trusted referrals)
  • Accountability (Financial background check)

Once the House Parents clear all requirements made by Angel House, they are trained by our Staff in the areas of Leadership, Safety, and Parenting. Additionally, regular unannounced visits are made to each homes to ensure they are operated according to Angel House standards.

Once the home is fully built, how is it financially sustained?

In most cases, the long-term financial support comes from non-profits in the immediate community. Angel House will not build a new home until there is a financially sustainable system in place. This enables the community to involve themselves in giving back to the most vulnerable in their region.

Are the children of Angel House available for US adoption?

It is our desire that each and every child that we rescue to be a part of a loving family that will care for and look after them for the rest of their lives. However, because of the limitations and regulations on US adoption, Angel House does not offer adoption services. If you or anyone wishes to do an International adoption, we encourage you to find an agency that does offer this service, however Angel House children are not available at this time.
